Work fast, work smart!

Let's face it: we’re living in the age of the computer. From big business to everyday social interactions, these “calculating machines” have evolved into tools and solutions for every conceivable human activity. From kids to seniors, casual users to business owners, everyone can benefit from owning a computer.

And whether you’ve been living digitally all your life or you’re new to the world of megabytes and gigabytes, RAM and CPUs, chances are you’ve had to familiarize yourself with the mass selections involved in buying a new computer.
Luckily, One-Systems can take all the guesswork off your hands. Just tell our trained technicians your needs, and we’ll make custom recommendations to suit your specifications and budget.

Home or Office, maybe Home Office?

Everyone needs a PC, especially at work. Email, Twitter, chat apps, the web: All of these technologies keep today's businesses humming.
It might be tempting to buy a simple consumer PC from the big-box franchise stores for your startup, but you'll be doing yourself and your customers a disservice if you do. Specialized business PCs have extra features that make them better suited to the office than the $500 sales-circular special.

For one, business desktops are built to last longer, and are easier to service than consumer PCs. After all, the longer a business PC is down, the more money it costs you in lost earning time. Business PC makers may have specialized tech-support lines to help you troubleshoot your hardware meltdown or your QuickBooks problem. At the very least, you can add a service contract to your business PC so that onsite support calls are handled by techs who respond in hours rather than in the days or weeks most consumer tech-support turnaround takes.

So, it’s important to know exactly what you want from your Office PC to begin with.

Which would suit your needs?

There are many factors to consider when choosing the best desktop computer for you; below are the most important ones, which we considered while we were researching this list.

Operating System: The desktop computers in this guide either run Windows 11, the latest version of Microsoft’s OS, or MacOS, which runs exclusively on Apple hardware.

All-In-One Vs. Tower: Desktop computers come in two styles: All-in-ones, which means the computer’s components are built into a screen, or towers, which need to be connected to a monitor separately. Our guide features a mix of both.

Processor: All of the best desktop computers have a modern Intel or AMD processor preferably Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 5000, and are capable of running almost any task you throw at them without slowdown.

RAM: The desktop computers we recommend should have at least 8GB (gigabytes) of RAM (memory). Having more RAM can help apps run more smoothly, and allow you to use more of them simultaneously without slowdown.

Storage: We’re recommending a desktop computer with between 256GB and 2 TB of storage. You won’t run into trouble with a smaller SSD (solid-state drive) if you stream most of your media, but you’ll need a larger one if you like to keep large video files or projects on your machine.

Upgradability: One of the biggest benefits of using a desktop over a laptop is the ability to upgrade it over time. This feature is only available on tower-style desktops.

Inputs: A computer’s inputs (known more commonly as ports), are what allow you to connect accessories to your machine. Each of our builds haw a different assortment of ports, which you should strongly consider depending on how you intend to use your machine. The PCs build by us can support WiFi and Bluetooth, though, so you have a range of wireless connectivity options, too.
