Laptop Water Damage Repair in Adelaide: First Steps & Real Costs

Laptop Water Damage Repair in Adelaide

A spilled drink is one of the most common laptop killers we see. The good news: if you act fast and bring it to a proper repairer, most water-damaged laptops can be saved — including MacBooks.

The first 5 minutes (do this now)

  1. Power off immediately. Hold the power button for 10 seconds. Do not try to "see if it still works".
  2. Unplug the charger.
  3. Flip the laptop upside down, lid open, like a tent. This stops liquid running into the logic board.
  4. Do NOT use rice. It does nothing useful and can leave dust inside.
  5. Do NOT try to turn it on to check. Powering a wet board is what destroys it.
  6. Bring it to us as soon as possible. Same-day matters — corrosion starts within hours.

What we do

Liquid damage repair is not just "drying it out". We:

  • Fully disassemble the laptop
  • Remove the battery to stop short circuits
  • Inspect every board under a microscope
  • Ultrasonic-clean the logic board to remove sticky residue
  • Replace any corroded components (caps, resistors, occasionally CPU sockets)
  • Reassemble and stress-test for 24 hours before returning

Realistic Adelaide pricing

  • Diagnostic: $99, refunded if you proceed
  • Clean and recover (no parts needed): $199 – $299
  • Board-level component repair: $349 – $599
  • Logic board replacement (worst case): quoted per model

When it cannot be saved

  • Salt water (corrodes much faster than fresh water)
  • Sugary drinks left for days
  • Devices powered on while still wet

Even then, we can almost always recover your data to a new machine.
